Amber Warning of Snow

It could definitely look like Christmas

The Met Office have upgraded a snow warning from yellow to amber for this Sunday.

The warning area cover Newark and the East Midlands.

The Met Office have stated "A band of rain, heavy at times, is expected to move eastwards over the UK. With cold air in place, a spell of heavy snow looks likely to develop on its northern edge. 10 cm looks likely quite widely within the warning area, with 15-20 cm in places. There is increasing certainty in the track and location of the heaviest snow"

As a result local communities could be cut off.

Drives are urged not to make unnecessary journeys if possible and take care if out on the roads. Breakdown agencies also remind you to take a flask of warm drink, snow shovels and pack extra blankets into the car.
