Nottinghamshire Police were called to a report that a lorry had left the road and went into a ditch.
Road closures remain in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
Further road closures are in place following an earlier collision on the A1 at Long Bennington, Lincolnshire, meaning long tailbacks on the A1 and A46 southbound towards Newark.
A lorry crashed into the central reservation and a second lorry had the rear of its trailer severely damaged.

Drivers travelling from Lincoln on the A46 are advised to take the A15 southbound towards Sleaford and then take the A52 to Grantham where they can rejoin the A1.
Anyone heading southbound on the A1, coming off at Newark, should take the A46 southbound to Bingham and then take the A52 towards Grantham where they can rejoin the A1.
