Newark Market is continuing to play a huge part in community life as they offer deliveries of essential food items to locals in need.
Supporting those in Newark who are classed as vulnerable due to health conditions or age, the Market are assisting Newark and Sherwood District Council in supplying free food deliveries that contain limited quantities of fruit, vegetables, bread, flour, eggs, fish and milk.
In addition, the Market are also working with Newark and Sherwood District Council to run a delivery service to the wider community. Locals will be able to order fresh fruits and vegetables from the Market and have them delivered to their homes whilst they isolate.
Ian Harrison, Newark Market Manager said: “The service is essential to those who cannot leave their homes or indeed have mobility issues especially with decreased bus services.
“The Market itself continues to provide a safe shopping environment outside with social distancing provided and is regulated by market staff. We are finding that many people prefer this to having to go into crowded supermarkets.”
Deliveries are made on all usual market days (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday), and orders should be made between noon and 3pm of the day before delivery is required.
A price will be confirmed before drop-off and contactless payment is required of delivery.
Orders can be made by calling 01636 681495, or via email to david.jackson@newark.gov.uk.
