Residents and businesses in Nottinghamshire are encouraged to get in touch if their Broadband speeds are not as fast as they should be.
Nottinghamshire County Council’s ongoing investment and commitment to delivering world-class digital infrastructure has helped to maintain its position as the best served superfast broadband county in the East Midlands.
However, the Council is hoping to build on its success to find out how to reach communities that are less well served, building a better picture of the digital needs of the population.
There are a range of schemes in the county that benefit households and businesses with their digital connectivity; Better Broadband for Nottinghamshire and the Nottinghamshire Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme.
During the last 10 years, through three separate contracts with BT and Openreach, the Council has taken the superfast digital infrastructure across Nottinghamshire (speeds greater than 24Mbps) from a baseline of 86% to over 98%.
Leader Councillor Kay Cutts MBE said: “With many working from home, home schooling and generally accessing the internet more during the coronavirus pandemic, fast reliable connectivity has never been so important.
“Working closely with partner organisations the County Council has made excellent progress to improve digital connectivity across all of Nottinghamshire. As a county, we are leading the way not only regionally but nationally too, Nottinghamshire is in the top three most digitally connected counties in the UK.”
In September 2020 the County Council invested £750,000 in order to step up efforts in delivering high-speed broadband to the most rural areas of the county.
Councillor Kay Cutts MBE added: “Over 98% of households and businesses in Nottinghamshire receive fast, reliable broadband. We are committed to ensuring properties in the most hard-to-reach areas wanting to improve their digital connectivity have the help needed to do so.”
Rural communities that struggle with digital connectivity can get in touch with the BetterBroadband for Nottinghamshire team by emailing enquiries.broadband@nottscc.gov.uk, including your postcode will help the team deal with your enquiry.
