The whole district is being invited to time travel back 70 years this month at a fun musical event. The 1950s District-Wide Sing-Along will be taking place at Newark Town Hall on Thursday 30th June from 2pm to 3.30pm.
Streamed live to audiences in care homes and other venues throughout Newark and Sherwood, members of the public are welcome to join the live audience as singer Jayne Darling leads a vintage sing-along to hits from the 50s, the decade of the Queen’s coronation.
Jayne will be performing old favourites everyone can join in with and will be staying for a quick chat after her performance too.
The event has been organised by the Arts Development team at Newark and Sherwood District Council with the help of Newark Town Council who have kindly offered use of the venue.
Entry is free with tea and coffee provided after the sing-along. Audience members should be aware that the event will be filmed and that if they do not wish to be on camera they should let a member of staff know. Spaces are limited and free places should be booked by emailing arts@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk. For more information, call Arts Development on 01636 655352.
Bus passengers can get around and explore the Mansfield and Newark Nottsbus On Demand zones in the evenings for only £1 throughout December and January!
The NHS Blood and Transplant Service are calling on local people to help fill available blood donation appointments at their Nottingham Donor Centre over coming days and weeks to help boost their blood stock levels.
DAB deal signals massive expansion in Radio Newark’s reach. Radio Newark's potential audience reach is set to expand dramatically after the community station’s board of directors accepted an offer to have its output relayed by Nottingham DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting).
This year is set to be a busy one in Newark with a whole host of events set to take place in the market town over the next few months.
