Lowdham and flood warnings

Newark and Sherwood District Council are working in a multi agency network with Nottinghamshire Police and Environment Agency around Lowdham this morning where the Cocker Beck has peaked leading to flooding of at least 50 properties.

The village hall in Lowdham has been established as a rescue centre and Social Care officers are from Nottinghamshire County Council are assisting with the evacuation of these properties along with the British Red Cross and Notts Police.

The Environment Agency have said that the Cocker Beck has now peaked and associated flood warnings should be removed later today.

The River Trent is rising slowly and such rises may affect the residents of Tolney Lane, Newark in the early hours of the morning. This will be monitored throughout the day and Radio Newark will advise of any warnings issued.
