The Children’s Bereavement Centre are preparing for this weekend’s Daisy Remembrance Exhibit.
It’s the second year they have organised this event. Last year, they had around 400 white metal daisies displayed in the Newark Castle grounds. People who have donated for a daisy in memory of a loved one, are invited to visit the exhibit to take a moment of memory and reflection. This year’s daisies are coloured purple, as a commemorative year for the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations in the same month.
The exhibit takes place between 10am-4pm Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June. It is free entry and visitors can still donate for a daisy over the weekend. On Sunday afternoon, people who have donated (a suggested £25) can take their daisy home and display in their home, garden or give as a gift. Everyone is welcome, you don’t have to be linked with the charity or have already donated for a daisy. There will be coffee available from Beyond Coffee, children’s craft activities and a handmade daisy merchandise stall. Support and donations for the Children’s Bereavement Centre are appreciated at any time, but never more so than at the moment. The impact of pandemic has been felt far and wide, and our vital services are needed now more than ever before, just at a time when our fundraising has been substantially reduced during in the last 24 months. We are therefore more reliant on the generosity of those in our local community.
They’d love for everyone to pop by and see the exhibit, 100s of ornamental daisies displayed in this beautiful location in the heart of Newark. Support from events like this will help to make sure that local children and young people who experience trauma due to the terminal illness or bereavement of someone they love, receive the right kind of support and guidance they need at what is probably one of the most difficult times in their lives.
Bus passengers can get around and explore the Mansfield and Newark Nottsbus On Demand zones in the evenings for only £1 throughout December and January!
The NHS Blood and Transplant Service are calling on local people to help fill available blood donation appointments at their Nottingham Donor Centre over coming days and weeks to help boost their blood stock levels.
DAB deal signals massive expansion in Radio Newark’s reach. Radio Newark's potential audience reach is set to expand dramatically after the community station’s board of directors accepted an offer to have its output relayed by Nottingham DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting).
This year is set to be a busy one in Newark with a whole host of events set to take place in the market town over the next few months. From Artisan Markets to the CAMRA Beer Festival and ‘Race to the Castle’ (a paddle board event) to the popular Steampunk Festival, there’s lots for families and friends to get involved with.
