Amelia leads the way

Amelia Chrispin leads the North Midlands XC with one race to go

Today Amelia travelled to Shipley Park in Heanor for Amelia to take part in round 3 of the North Midlands League XC. Shipley Park is definitely the most testing course in the series and at 3.4km is the longest. Amelia was racing in her first year of the the U13G section. The race started at a very quick pace and after about the first 500m Amelia was well positioned in 10th place running well. The field disappeared into the distance for the main part of the race and reappeared with 1.1km to go, Amelia had managed to move up into a great 4th place.

She made a decisive move at this point and sprinted past the 2nd and 3rd placed girls to move up into 2nd pushing on hard. She rounded the corner of the final part of the course, a very steep hill, still in 2nd and as she reached the top sprinted the last 60m to finish the race in a fantastic 2nd place. The result leaves her leading the series with once race in January to go.

Many thanks to whoever at Newark AC took the photograph.
