Bev on course for Ironmam

Bev Hendley

Local triathlete Bev Hendley, took part in the Outlaw Half Triathlon held at the National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham on Sunday along with approximately 1500 other triathletes from around the country.

The race comprised of a 1.2 miles swim in the regatta lake, a 56 mile bike around the countryside of Notts and finished with a half marathon run along the river banks of the River Trent and water Sports Centre.

On the provisional timing, Bev finished forth in her age group in a time of 6 hours 15 minutes and 05 seconds and was unfortunately only 9 seconds off finishing third and a podium spot.

Whilst disappointed with the fourth  place, Bev is overall very happy with her race after knocking off 25 minutes from the two middle distance races she completed last year and bodes well for her target which is the Ironman UK Triathlon, Bolton in July this year. This race comprises of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile  (marathon) run and is a qualifier for the World Ironman Championships held in Hawaii.
