Amelia Chrispin
On Sunday 30th July Amelia took part in the York Junior Triathlon at the York Sports Village. This race was part of the Yorkshire Regional Triathlon Series.
Amelia was competing against 67 other boys and girls in the Tristar 2 category and started her heat with 16 other athletes in the pool all eager to do well. Amelia had a great 200m swim and left T1 to start the 6km bike section as fourth athlete and 1st girl.
She worked really hard on the bike and passed 2 of the boys on the purpose-built bike circuit and was looking strong as she left transition for the final time, for the start of the 1800m run.
Amelia continued her form during the run and crossed the line 1st girl in her heat. After waiting for the rest of the field to finish Amelia was really pleased to find out she had come 1st girl, 1min 30 seconds ahead of the nearest female, and 2nd overall beating all but one boy.
The result means Amelia now has an unassailable lead and has therefore won the Yorkshire Regional Triathlon Series, 2 months and 3 events before the end of the Series. This with her East Midlands Series win makes her a double Regional Champion for 2017. The prize giving for each of these regions should be sometime in Autumn, when each of these respective series finish.
She now has a break from competing and looks excitedly ahead to the National IRC Triathlon Championships on Monday 28th August.
