Amelia Chrispin
On Sunday 25th June Amelia took part in the 4th race of 7, in the East Midlands Regional Triathlon Series - The Nottingham Junior Triathlon. Nearly 300 children aged between 8 -16 turned up to eager to compete.
Amelia was going to race a 200m swim - 4km technical xc bike and 1800m run in the TS2 11/12 section with 94 other girls and boys.
She started the swim section with 7 other girls in her heat and swam well leaving the pool in 5th place. Quickly moving on to the next part of the race. She worked hard on the technical bike section and although there were few passing opportunities, she managed to move up to 3rd place at the start of the run section.
Amelia came out of transition for the final time knowing she had to run down two good athletes in front of her. She still looked fresh and really pushed herself moving into 2nd place after the first lap. She was rapidly gaining on the leader and on the final lap, with half a lap to go, caught the lead girl and sprinted past her, with the leader unable to react she took the win. She was especially pleased with her run leg, as it was fastest out all the 95 boys and girls.
This 4th win out of 4, in the series, now means Amelia is in a unassailable lead and has won the East Midlands Regional Triathlon Series with three races still to go. The series will end in September.
