Busy time for Newark Striders
There’s an international aspect to this week’s report but we start in the UK with marathon news. Matt Silk and Simon Price ran the Boston Marathon, Matt was first home in a new personal best time of 3:32:28 and Simon finished in 3:56:05. Meanwhile at the south coast, three Newark Striders were taking on the Brighton Marathon, Richard Scott crossed the line in 3:46:24, next came Dawn Hollingworth in 4:27:29 PB and Sara Whittaker in her first marathon 4:56:23 PB.
Gemma Latham was also at Boston competing in the Half Marathon with her sister Kim, completing the course in 2:35:15. Steve Martin and Dan Endersby were running in the Derby 10K, Steve’s time was 47:50 and Dan’s was 53:29. Four Striders were in off road action, racing in the Grantham 10K Cup; Peter Davis was first back in 52:07, next was David Taylor 57:26 followed by Ruth Mountstevens 1:11:31 and Nick Harrison 1:13:51.
Finally onto news from abroad; Adam Clarke and Hannah Thomson joined Notfast family and friends for their trip to the Poznan Half Marathon, Adam crossed the line in 1:29:36 with Hannah finishing in 2:01:30. Lewis Hopkinson placed second overall and first veteran in the Windermere 10K Run among the Lakes in Florida with a time of 38:43. Well done everyone.
