Newark Striders

Parkruns and 10k’s

On Saturday Striders had Parkrun runners at York, Sherwood Pines and of course Newark, and two members, Stephen Tomlinson and Dan Arkwell completed their 100th Parkrun.

To Sunday and 6 Newark Striders took on the inaugural Notts 20, the figure of 8 course started and finished at Holme Pierrepont, went out into the windy and undulating countryside with a section along the Trent and past the City Ground. Plenty of very big puddles. Noel Henderson finished the 20 miles in 2:44:06 3rd in age category, then Nige Driscoll 2:47:28, Steve Padgett 2:58:10, Graham Welsh 2:58:39, Cate Driscoll 3:05:09, Karen Illsley 3:39:17.

10K news and Steve Gurd, Jess Gordon and Tom Young travelled to Shropshire for the Mercedes Benz of Shrewsbury 10K, which Tom completed in a PB time of 45:48, Jess 47:39 and Steve 51:49. It was a family outing for Jess, her dad Barry finished his first ever 10K in 1:02:56. Meanwhile, Stephen Tomlinson was in Lincolnshire for the Long Sutton 10K, Tomo pressed hard and was rewarded with a new PB of 49:52. It was Norfolk for Gemma Latham who ran in the Mad March Hare 10K, the race is the first event in the Coltishall Jaguars 10K series and Gemma crossed the line in a gun time of 1:05:45.
