Newark Athletic Club represented at the finale of the XC season.

This weekend saw the traditional end of the Cross Country season with the English Schools Championships held at a very wet, windy and muddy Temple Newsham in Leeds.

Amelia Chrispin was representing Nottinghamshire and travelled up to Leeds on the team coach to compete against 353 other  girls, from 45 counties, who had qualified to race in the very completive 3km Junior girls race.

She started fairly well in the strong field and after the first few minutes was in the top 50 runners. She continued to run well, on the tough muddy course, passing runners all the time, and with a strong finish managed to cross the line in a brilliant 18th place. A fantastic result.

Newark A.C. where also represented by a number on Lincolnshire runners; In the Senior girls race Laura Bates came home 121st and Tilly Owens 308th while Ed Buck finished a very credible 61st in the Senior boys.

Also well done to ex Newark AC Ben Smith 46th and Grantham ACs Savanah Brook  98th and Isobel Hobday 205th.
