Radio Newark Sport with James Brincat-Smith

“very pleased with my performance”

James Brincat-Smith continued his warm up for the Brench Press World Championships with a trip to Nottingham for the North Midlands Divisional Bench Press Event.

Afterwards he spoke to Radio Newark Sport

”Very pleased with my performance. You're given 3 attempts in competition, so I went 220kg/230kg/265kg, the 220kg and 230kg were both good lifts, 230kg being a 5kg personal best and a new divisional Record.

We then went for broke and threw 265kg on the bar, but I lost my line on the way down so it wasn't to be today. The strength is there and i'm sure come the World championships in May  I'll do a good job of it, 10 weeks to go so lots of work to do between now and then.

But better than all of the above, I was presented an award for being voted the North Midlands Male Powerlifter of the year for 2018 on the back of a successful year on the platform”.

James is back at Sport HQ on Tuesday 2nd April.
