Running through the Night

Equinox 24 and much more

We couldn't really start anywhere other than Equinox 24 this weekend and as usual we had a variety of solo, pairs and team runners logging as many 10K laps as possible in 24 hours in the shadow of Belvoir Castle. Anthea Moisey headed up the solos with 8 laps, then Jon Rawson 6 laps, Cate Driscoll 4, Nige Driscoll 4, Donna Beveridge 3. In the pairs, Matt Silk and Mark Turner totalled 14 laps and Steve & Niceeta Padgett 10 laps. Team of 5 'Beauty and the Beasts', which included Jean-Louis Balestra, Tom Jordan and Tom Cragg clocked up 21 laps. In the Equinox standalone 10K race Sarah-Jane Cobb and Bonnie Tinsley ran together, finishing in 1:08. Plenty of family involvement too, with good times in the junior run for George and Zachary Jordan, Olivia Cragg and Meah Moisey.

On Sunday Emma Gilbert and Sara Webb took on the Rutland Half Marathon. Emma finished in 1:57:59 and Sara 2:37:25.

Wet and hilly was the description of the Sheffield 10K, but that didn't deter the 3 Newark Striders that took part. Steve Martin crossed the line in 47:14, Steve White 47:45 and it was a fantastic new PB of 1:14:23 for Lisa White with a fine run in the 3K junior event for daughter Melissa. It was nice and sunny in Norfolk where Gemma Latham was running in the Jolly Jaguars 10K, which she completed in 1:01:18.

There was a good turnout at the Trust 10K runs, which aren't timed events. At Clumber Park we had Andy Sirrs, Lesley Butlin, Andy Scott, Kath Scott, Karen Illsley, Graham Welsh, Debbie Bavin, Tracey Partridge, Jenny Palmer, Simon Palmer and daughter Charlotte. Meanwhile, Chris and Paul Cregg were at the Hanbury Hall Trust 10K event in Worcestershire.

Parkrun news and as well as Newark, we ran at York, Huntington, Clumber Park, Forest Rec and Churchfields Farm Parkruns.

Congratulations to Jason Cobb and Stacey Atkins who had great results in the Outlaw X 70.3 triathlon which finishes with a half marathon and Bev Hancock and daughter Ella for finishing 4th and 3rd in the first of this year's Canicross Midlands events in Bedfordshire.

Well done everyone who ran or supported.
