European Championship Hopes Dashed at Mildenhall,
After a successful afternoon at St Peter's Cross Keys C of E Primary Academy summer fete on Friday afternoon, where the team met pupils and their family whilst raising funds for the school and their chosen charity Bloodwise MDS Racing set off to the European Championship at Mildenhall last Saturday in high spirits and with the hope of scoring points to improve their position at the World Championship and to keep the hard-earned blue roof.
The meeting started well with Dave improving his place in heat one on an ever-drying track to finish in 10th place and in the points, guaranteeing a grid position in the European Final.
For heat 2 rear tyres were changed to try and gain more rear grip as the track staff were putting down more water on the shale track surface.
Dave went out to try and improve his place on the European Championship grid and all was going well until trying to avoid a multi car collision in turn one he was forced off the racing line and slid into the wall hard which damaged the car preventing him from competing in the European Championship Final.
In the Final congratulations go to the new European Champion Kevin Stutchbury from Buckinghamshire who claimed victory after being in third place right up to the last bend where he passed the two leaders to snatch the victory.
The decision has been taken to miss the Buxton meeting this weekend whilst the car is repaired in readiness for the busy week starting with two World Championship Qualifying Rounds at Skegness on the 6th August and Great Yarmouth on the 7th followed by a full weekends racing at Buxton on the 10th and 11th August.
