Newark Striders
On Friday night an amazing 69 Striders completed the Summer Solstice 10K road race last night .
The promise of beer obviously worked as 24 striders achieved a new personal best time with some completing their first 10K race.
Jan Bailey took the honour of being the first Strider home in a new personal best time of 36:17 and coming 12th overall, followed by Dan Stephen also achieving a new personal best time of 37:25 and 17th next, Mark Jackson 25th overall in a personal best time of 38:09, Lewis Hopkinson 39:04, Simon Palmer 42:11, Matt Silk 42:25 PB, Mark Winter 42:44, Gary Tasker 42:39 , Dave Dews 44:20 PB.
First lady Strider to finish was Danielle Forsey finishing in a amazing time 44:15 coming in 132nd overall and a new PB. Leroy Lindsay 44:42, Peter Davis 44:49, Nick Beveridge 45: 30 PB,

Well done to Lewis Hopkinson and Graham Welsh who completed the Collingham Crawl and Canter 5K event. Lewis Hopkinson finished in a time of 19: 40 coming second overall and Graham Welsh finished in a time of 24:50.
While in Bourne the five Striders participated in the Grimsthorpe 10 events. A picturesque run around the castle grounds and surrounding area.
Jean - Louis Balestra and Karen Illsley took on the undulating part road/ trail 10 mile course. Jean - Louis finished in a brilliant in 1:23:02 and Karen in a great 1:49: 00.
While Karen Hichisson, Philippa Clarke and Stacey Atkins took on the 10K, Karen finished in 56.59 18th lady and 2nd in her age category (50-54) Philippa and Stacey ran together and finishing in 1:06:20
And finally while others were running, three Striders were cycling !
Wyn Thomas and Michelle Starbuck completed the Cycle live Nottingham " The Friar Tuck 50 mile event. Wyn finished the route in a time of in a time of 3.19:33 and Michelle finished in 3:35:12.
Jane Hill completed the longer distance of " The Maid Marion " 75 mile event finishing in 5:01:44.
