Graham Welsh reports
We start with Ben Barnard, who was in Castleton on Saturday for the Cancer Research UK Peak District Tough 10K. Ben was 25th from 322 competitors in a time of 1:00:05 and with rough terrain and 1100 ft of climbing the race certainly wasn't misnamed. Also on Saturday, Nick Harrison took on the 27 mile version of the Dave Lewis Memorial Challenge. In the course of 6 and three quarter hours he took a wrong turn or two map reading and had encounters with ditches, low branches, a bull and an electric fence, quite a day.
Sunday next and there was a good turn out at Thoresby in perfect running weather. In the 10K event Philippa Clarke and Stacey Atkins finished in 1:02:05, Rob Wilkinson 1:02:39 then Bernie Divall and Heather Green in 1:14:04. Andrea Leech Smith took a tumble on the way to 1:16:14, then came Sarah Stuart 1:16:41 and Emma Ashwin 1:20:26. Undaunted by his adventures the previous day, Nick Harrison did the 5K event in 39:55.
To Scarborough where Stephen Tomlinson and Matt Patterson were running in the Yorkshire Coast 10K. Tomo finished in 52:47 and Matt 58:48. We the round up at the Clumber Park Trust 10K, in which 3 Striders were participating. Hannah Thomson ran 55:51, Andy Sirrs 58:07 and Lesley Butlin 1:00:54.
Well done to everyone that was running this week, Light the Night, Parkrun, plogging, racing or training.
